Born in Germany, Martin Boetz's passion for cooking began at an early age after his family moved to Queensland.

After his apprenticeship at Lennons Brisbane Hotel, he completed his training with Vincent Rae at the Byron Bay restaurant Faces.

In 1990 Martin moved to Sydney to further his career and worked at several well known restaurants including Zigolini's where he met Sam Christie who is now his business partner.

His passion for Thai food came after working with David Thompson at Darley street Thai and then Sailors Thai.

In 1999 Martin and Sam Christie started Longrain in Sydney and in 2005 in Melbourne. 

Martin is the executive chef at Longrain in Sydney and Melbourne. When he's not in the kitchen at Longrain, Martin travels the world cooking for exclusive functions as well as various cooking demonstrations/classes, his favourites being Noosa Food and Wine Festival and the Hilton Masterclass.
